The
Story of... Taylor, age 17
For the past 5 years I have had
IBS. but have only really known that it is IBS since last year. At first I
was horrified to find out that I had a disorder to do with my bowels. But
then I was more relieved because there was a reason for all the symptoms
of IBS that are considered socially embarrassing such as wind, bloated
stomach and Diarrhoea.
My mum (the spelling of mum that way is because I'm Australian) had IBS
and I thought it was what old people had. I felt I couldn't tell anyone
about it until my friend told me that she had it. It was a big relief to
talk to someone who understood and that I could relate to.
Now I have more understanding of IBS and if I control my food and don't
get stressed out (because stressful times like exams trigger my IBS) It
isn't as bad as it used to be.
